A story of strength begins with Dipsana Dhungana’s birth in Dhunibesi-03, Dhading, on September 19, 2013. Dipsana was born with partial blindness in a lower-middle-class family.
Dipsana was born to a hardworking father who paints houses and a housekeeping mother who is devoted to the household. She is the sibling of two young sisters. There is a delicate balance of challenges and dreams in the Tamang family’s life, with one sister enjoying the joys of early education and another still in the early stages of childhood.
Dipsana loves to sing and dance. We have observed her dancing and singing out of her own space.
Dipsana Dhungana initially entered our support network due to her visual impairment, seeking assistance as a person with partial blindness. Following that, she came under our support and was given a thorough examination on December 2, 2023, to look for ways to make her condition even better.
The diagnosis revealed that no additional medical interventions could improve her vision. Nonetheless, a ray of confidence appeared with the suggestion that she undergo regular tests every six months or annually to assess the durability of her present eyesight while wearing corrective lenses.
This routine became a part of Dipsana’s life, with the uncertainty of her visual impairment casting a shadow on her dreams and aspirations.
Equity Nepal’s Intervention
Equity Nepal, a nonprofit organization committed to empowering individuals with visual impairments, stepped into Dipsana’s life as a beacon of hope. Equity Nepal promised to help make sure Dipsana gets the care and opportunities she deserves because we knew how hard things were for her family and how few resources are in rural areas.
Offering financial help is one of the main ways that Equity Nepal makes a big difference. Dipsana’s family relied on the income from her father’s job as a house painter to pay for her medical care and schooling.
Equity Nepal’s financial assistance ensures that Dipsana can access regular eye check-ups and any required treatments without imposing a financial burden on her family.
